Our Beliefs

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Apostle's Creed is our baptismal creed, and is the most ancient summary of the Christian faith.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

 creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

 He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

 He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

 He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

 the holy catholic Church,

 the communion of saints,

 the forgiveness of sins,

 the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

Gather

We believe in God, the Trinity, the importance of worshipping together, the power of prayer, and that all are included at the table. No exceptions.

We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am for Holy Eucharist services, followed by a coffee hour fellowship time.

Grow

We are a small parish made up primarily of adults. We welcome anyone who would like to visit and join us in worship, and we hope to continue to grow and make an impact in Alleghany County.

Go

Our time together on Sundays begins our week in the community. We are involved in various outreach efforts including volunteering at the local Solid Rock Food Closet, visiting prisoners at the River North Correctional Center in nearby Independence, VA, and volunteering with the local hospice. We also support a new Girl Scout troop that meets here bimonthly.

Our Practices

God's Word - Prayer - Worship

Many of you may be familiar with the Episcopal worship service but for those who are not, we gather on Sunday mornings to read scripture, pray, hear the sermon, sing hymns, partake of communion, and greet each other by passing the peace. May the peace of Christ be with you...and also with you.

Our service is created using The Book of Common Prayer and The Hymnal 1982 (among other sources). We provide a bulletin for each person that has all the worship information needed to participate.

We follow each Sunday morning service with a coffee hour hosted by our Food & Fellowship Team in conjunction with other members who sign-up to provide refreshments. This is a time for fellowship that we value and enjoy.
